Mashed potatoes and grey hair

I don't know what's up with Sammy lately. He keeps asking if we're in a dream or in real life. I don't know if it's a developmental thing, but he genuinely looks confused by life.

Puberty is a disease

Lots of talk about puberty at school apparently. My bd (beloved daughter) reckons that a girl in her class is scared of being near people 'with mounds' as she puts it (that's breasts to you and me) as she believes she can catch puberty. I don't blame her.

Sex education according to a year 6 child

I have been learning a lot about sex lately. Or rather about the way schools teach it, and kids perceive it.
Lots of gems have come out in the process. It seems they do it in stages these days (the teaching). First stage was watching a video. According to my beloved daughter, it started with a man running after a woman and tickling her with a feather. So far so weird. They were both naked, and thankfully they were cartoon characters.

second interview

I had my second interview at the catholic school. I was brought in to meet the girl I would be 'supporting', and help her and a small group of children during an activity. While I was waiting in reception I noticed a tin with Jesus on it. I think it was a collection box. His eyes were looking upwards, giving him a very sad look. I looked away, and noticed a first aid box on the wall in the school office. On top of it there was a big cardboard with something about calling 999. Only someone had placed it upside down, and it read 666. Not quite the same effect.

school today

Today I helped at school. At playtime, a little girl ran up to me. She was a lovely child, and she asked me if I had any tatoos. Twice. Now, I don't look like a Hell's Angel, and there's nothing that screams tatoos about me. She insisted : 'have you got any tatoos there?', while pulling her sleeve up. I thought she was going to show me one of those temporary tatoos but there was nothing on her forearm. Then she told me very proudly that her brother had a tatoo there, there an there. Forearm, top of thumb and chest.

First interview

Today I had my first job interview for 15 years. It was for a part time job in a school. It sounded right up my street in terms of hours and experience. The only problem was that it was in a Christian school. I may be a hypocrite, and I admit I would have put my principles to one side just to get the job. But as I was sitting in reception waiting for the headteacher to meet me, I wondered what I was doing there.
